Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Melbourne

Our church and parish belongs to Serbian Orthodox Church Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand. It is located in the northern suburb of Brunswick, 6km from the Melbourne CBD. There is a Tram 96 Stop next to the church entrance (refer to the map below).

All Orthodox are welcome

Our liturgical services are held in Serbian and Church-Slavonic. Baptisms, weddings and funerals can be conducted in English on request.

Serbian School

Our Serbian language school is government accredited and is continuously running since 1990s. Serbian language, Cyrillic script, religious education, history and culture are taught to various age groups.

Choir and Folklore Group

The church choir maintains the Serbian traditional Orthodox chant by Mokranjac and other composers. The vocal consort “Krune” is also available to sing on weddings and baptisms.

Circle of Serbian Sisters and Pensioners Club

Our sisters prepare agapes (Love Feasts) and Church Slava catering, keep the parish hall and the church clean, and beautify the services with floral arrangements. Help is always welcome!

Bogdan Milic

Dean

Born in Uzice, Serbia in 1989. Ordained in 2019, he served in Serbia until 2024 before becoming our Parish priest.

Petar Damnjanovic

Former Parish Priest (Retired)

Born in Ub, Serbia, Fr Petar has served over 30 years, 9 in Belgrade and the rest in our Church as Parish Priest and Dean.

Miroslav Hadzi-Popovic

Former Parish Priest (Retired)

Born in Ivanjica and serving initially in Serbia, Fr Miroslav was our Dean for 30 years before retiring in 2015.
